I’ve been back in Kaikōura for almost a month now! It’s been a challenge to get back into the routine of blogging again… My five week visit to the States turned into five months. It worked out that CCSP was taking a semester off and my brother was getting married (plus I needed a new passport). I’m so glad I got that extra time with family. I’ll definitely be sharing more about that visit soon!
It feels good to be back in Kaikōura. This place has been one of my homes for five (almost six) years now! The re-entry to life here gets easier each time. Which is good because when I arrived we had guests from YWAM for five days and then were painting the main living space of Sky Hi the next 3 days. It was a nice way to jumpstart my time here.

The week before last was more quiet. I mostly went on walks, rested, and did some gardening. I love solo garden time at SkyHi (there’s a lot more of that to come) but my favorite way to work outside is with others! Thankfully, I got to enjoy being part of the team at the community garden and the St. Peter’s garden.

I spent last week up in the Nelson region with some dear CCSP alumni, Kara and Jackie! We did 3 days of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track before exploring Nelson a bit. It was great to have some time to explore this corner of Aotearoa. Plus, we got to go to The Nelson Market!

We’re back in Kaikōura now. This week will include house/dog sitting, Sky Hi prep, gardening, and Christmas presents crafting!
P.C. Jackie and Kara get credit for the Abel Tasman photos!

Somehow my brain doesn’t comprehend that you’ve spent that much time in NZ! The water at your fav swimming spot looks gorgeous!
