Te Ika-a-Māui (North Island) Visit

I thought I wouldn’t be posting anything else until my return to NZ, but I had such a good visit to the North Island that I wanted to share it with y’all! I visited my dear friend brenda, at her home Ngatiawa River Monestary. I also had the chance to see my friend Mary in the Taranaki area. I’m very fortunate to have the chance to travel and witness such beauty with lovely friends.

The evening ferry ride up north was gorgeous!
On the first day with brenda we did the Paekākāriki Escarpment Track (with views of Kāpiti island)
brenda and I together! That’s Kāpiti Island again in the back.
I spent Saturday on Kāpiti island with all these amazing NZ birds. I cried because it was so special to see so many native birds safe from introduced predators!
The weather was so nice – I did the Kapakapanui track a few days later! I’m learning the balance of documenting solo adventures and sometimes a happy selfie is needed 😉
Also part of the Kapakapanui track – multiple crossings of the Ngatiawa river!
My lodging at Ngatiawa was on this paddock with these lovely sheep ladies!
Mt. Taranaki – I’m so glad Mary and I got to see this beauty for a few moments as the fog cleared!
What mountain?! The fog came back in after the last photo.
Pukekura park with Mary ❤
